Elsie Hein was born August 31, 1920 to Robert and Bertha Hein. She was baptized on September 12, 1920 at the home of her parents by Rev. W. Hodde, Evangelical Lutheran pastor. She was confirmed on April 14, 1935 by Rev. C.D. Eifert at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Freeman, South Dakota.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Heilbrann until the congregation disbanded, and then she transferred to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Freeman, SD where she remained a faithful member of her church.
Elsie attended grade school at Knodel School District 84. She farmed with her parents for many years. After the death of her parents, Elsie moved to Freeman where she kept busy with a large garden. She enjoyed canning and preserving the produce for herself and sister Ella, and for giving away to friends and family. Elsie also worked at the cafe in Freeman making cheesepockets and pies.
Elsie is survived by her twin sister, Ella Hein, and many friends and relatives.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bertha Hein.
